What does "become an LSAT natural" mean?
Okay, okay, I know– “become a natural” is an oxymoron. What I mean is that I want to teach you to strip away all of the complications that are getting in your way–assumptions you are bringing with you to your reading of the text; overly complex methods you may have learned elsewhere. I want to streamline your thought processes and teach you where your focus should be. I want to teach you to think the way naturally high LSAT scorers think.
How long do sessions last? Where are they held?
Sessions are 90 minutes long. That seems to be the sweet spot– long enough that things aren’t ending just as you are getting into your groove but short enough to end before your brain goes numb!
I do the vast majority of my sessions online, typically using Zoom and a browser-based whiteboard. If you have a strong preference for another platform, I’m happy to accommodate. I do also meet Detroit-area students in person occasionally, at a public location in my suburb.
What is your cancellation policy? Do you offer package refunds?
I require 24-hour notice for cancellation of an appointment.
I encourage students to try a single session with me before choosing to buy a package. Once a package has been purchased, no refunds will be available.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes! Credit card transactions are processed through Stripe, Inc.
How many points will I improve on the LSAT?
How hard are you willing to work? I have had students improve 20+ points on the LSAT, after three months or more of diligent study and regular sessions. A more typical range tends to be 10-15, but this varies widely, depending on what the student’s starting point is and what his or her particular trouble spots are. It is much easier to make a large gain in Logic Games, for example, than in Reading Comprehension. It is important to remember that our sessions have to be part of a comprehensive study plan that includes taking many practice exams. I will work with you to create a plan that is tough but realistic, given your work, family, and school demands.
Do you do help with other aspects of the admissions process?
Yes! I am happy to brainstorm essay ideas, review and edit essays, discuss school options, and advise you on other aspects of the law school admissions process.
What about law student and bar exam tutoring?
I pride myself in being able to coach you for as long as you want to bring me along your journey! Down the road, I would like to grow this business into one that markets itself equally to pre-law students, law students, and law school graduates.
Past LSAT students have asked me to continue to tutor them once they are in law school, and I am happy to work with them, particularly on the traditional first-year subjects (contracts, torts, property, civil procedure, criminal law, constitutional law) and on my areas of specialty (advanced constitutional law, first amendment, media law, administrative law).
I am also an experienced bar exam tutor and have had a number of students who came to me after having failed the bar exam. Together we got them through it on their second try!
